It somehow tickles me that, here I had been joking about how this is really The Year of the Horse's Ass, and come to think of it, that might be a good figurative translation of The Year of the Fire Horse on a cultural level. Intense. Energetic. Transformative. In earlier eras, the birth rate in the far east would plummet because girls born in The Year of the Fire Horse were said to be rebellious and headstrong. So, according to Chinese astrology, the Fire Horse is a jerk – so calling it The Year of the Horse's Ass wouldn't be too far off.
I'm reminded of Wally McRae's cowboy poem “Reincarnation”...
