It is Halloween now, and I am telling you about a zombie campaign.
For over three weeks, I have suspended all active political campaigning.
Our family emergency is real and it is ongoing.
We are now in the middle of an epic lawsuit that will fundamentally shape the future of our family, and splitting my attention between this political campaign and this lawsuit was not an option.
Is this lawsuit politically motivated?
I don't know, and I suppose I will never know.
My lack of notice for over a month after the suit was filed is suspicious.
The fact that the lawsuit had been filed before the deadline for me to get onto the ballot, with notice of that lawsuit received over three weeks after the deadline, is suspicious. If I had been aware of this lawsuit, I would not have put in the extra effort to get myself on the ballot. As it was, the delayed timing of the notice allowed me to get on the ballot as an independent candidate but prevented me from effectively campaigning.
Suspicious.
But I suppose I will never know.
That said, for those of District 47, I still want you to vote for me.
I have been consistent about what I stand for. I still am.
If you want a yard sign, either for your yard or as a keepsake, please call me at 701-319-8747 or email me at votevarvel@gmail.com and I will arrange for you to get one – please let me know where you live so I can bring it to you.
For all of those who believe in me, I will never forget you.
Although this political campaign has not been what I wanted, I believe I made the right decision to put my family first. I would never have been able to look at myself in the mirror had I done otherwise.
Again, for the people of District 47, I am still on the ballot.
Please vote for me if you haven't voted already.
I would still like a chance to serve the people of our district.
If you want me to serve you at the Legislature, I will find a way to serve you.
Please pray for us as our family makes a pilgrimage in December to the Mayo Clinic so my mother can receive the healthcare she deserves.
When it comes to making the arrangements for my mother to receive the healthcare she deserves, I say, “Here I stand. I cannot do otherwise.”
Thank you for your support, may God bless you, and may God bless America.
